Planimetric Map

httphttp://www.nps.gov/history/history/online_books/fova/clr/clr2-5c.htm

Above is an original example (1948) of a planimetric map indicating only the horizontal positions of features, without regard to elevation, in contrast with a topographic map, which indicates both horizontal and vertical positions. This map depicts what today is Fort Vancouver National Monument, which was established by Congressional action including ninety acres of land on old Fort Plain.
